The case of the missing "open"

As many of you may remember, Chicagolandradioandmedia.com was known for years as the home of news and "open" discussion on Chicagoland radio, media, and more. You can see a picture of the old heading here: http://web.archive.org/web/20070811183751/http://www.chicagolandradioandmedia.com/ (thisarchived picture takes a while to load so be patient). This was a screen shot from August 11th of this year.

Contrast the above header with what currently heads Larz's web page. Hmmmmmm. What is missing? That's right, Larz has finally deleted the "open" part. Now, part of me is a little happy with this development because perhaps this means Larz has become self-aware enough to realize that there is nothing open about the discussion on his board at all. Entire topics are verboten and Larz has "openly" stated that he will delete a post if it merely pisses him off.

However, why would Larz have actually felt the need to make such a change, I wondered.

And then it hit me.

What changed in between August 11th and now in the chicagoland internet community? That's right....the Blabbin Cabin closed down. With no competition to worry about, Larz felt like he didn't have to go through the charade of having "open" discussion anymore. Therefore, he changed the header and began being more forward about openly stating that he would delete posts on a whim.

And there you have it. The case of the missing "open"

did you forget about the media update board? not a lot of people post there but there at least are a few people who post there.

blabbin cabin reopned as well since, temporarily, at least until larz reopens his board.

Why not just start your own board if you have a problem with him?

The entire CRM site is shady. He deletes what he doesn't like and keeps what he likes. There's nothing open about it. And if you look at the source of his page you'll notice some other shady things as well: like using keywords of his current and former site competitors (such as: "CRM, Chicagoland, Chicago, Windy City, Chicago radio, radio, media, news, links, television, TV, newspaper, newspapers, radios, chitown, chitown radio, radio-info, Crow On, Crow_On, Crow board, broadcasting, DJ, DJs, disk jockeys, radio stations, message board, message boards, blogs, blog, Robert Feder, Larz, Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago Tribune, Phil Rosenthal, CRM, WLUW, WNUR, WBEZ, WXRT, WLIT, WKIE, WIIL, WZZN, WNUA, WERV, WBBM, WDRV, WLUP, WUSN, WKQX, WFMT, WILV, WRXQ, WTMX, WXLC, WVAZ, WKSC, WJMK, WCFL, WCKG, WCFS, WGCI, WOJO, WLEY, WIND, WGN, WLS, WCPT, WSCR, WMVP, WVON, AM, FM, AM RADIO, FM RADIO, WTTW, FOX, WFLD, WUPN, CBS2, ABC7, NBC5, XRT, The Loop, Q101, Q101.1, The Drive, Kiss-FM, B96, Love-FM, Fresh, Lite-FM, Holiday Lite, Steve Dahl, Jonathon Brandmeier, US99, US99.5, The Score, ESPN, Spike O'Dell, Mancow, Nine-FM, Garry Meier, Roe Conn, Dick Biondi, terrestrial radio, XM, Sirius, satellite radio, airwaves, TVs, radio station, Chicago radio, Chicagoland radio and media"). Highly unethical.
